The nursing program is not in Boulder. You can take the pre-reqs in Boulder, but you have to spend the last two years at the HSC in Aurora. Plus, the OP said s/he was going to college in Denver, which makes me think UCD Auraria (downtown).

Default Been there, done that...

I lived in both Tempe and Scottsdale (born and raised in Colorado) and I would go to school here. I enjoyed ASU but after a few years it got really boring. If you like the change of seasons you will really be bored there! Colorado has so much more to offer and people are so much more friendlier here than in AZ.

You won't have to worry about the moderate conservative leanings of any area if you will be attending college. Most universities tend to be politically correct bastions of liberal thought. Christian values and conservative viewpoints will be silenced and students who espouse these values in their writings are often graded harder than those who sip the kool-aid and fall in line with the program. All in the name of tolerance and enlightenment, of course.

I'm curious about the political question too; I posted a new thread in the Phoenix forum about this. If you're liberal, is it a no-brainer to go to Denver if you have the choice? (I'll be entering for a job, not college, and am thinking about raising kids, but I don't think that necessarily matters for this question.) Is Phoenix really that much more right-leaning compared to Denver, in terms of being very socially conservative?

If you have the option, you may want to look into the nursing program at the University of Arizona in Tucson. It's a better program than ASU's and Tucson is slightly more liberal than Phoenix. It's also not quite as hot at night, which starts to matter after your 5th month in a row of 100+ degree days.

That being said, I've lived in both Phoenix and Denver and I would choose Denver. Denver has a far better economy, better infrastructure, better schools, better weather, better quality of life overall, etc... Denver is also much, much more liberal from my experience.

If you do choose Phoenix, take the other poster's advice and live in Tempe. It's an island of intellectual civility in an otherwise hyper-conservative, right-wing-radio driven place.

Good luck in your decision!
