Yes, I have a stomp pad on my board.
The last time I went, the guy wasn't even looking at us incoming people or even the people who had just unloaded. He was looking in some other direction, and that is when I had my bad fall. I did come to learn that this particular lift is the fastest one and that it's tricky, acc. to the lift manager.

OK, I'm confused. How does the lift operator know that you don't know how to exit a lift?

I agree with ForumRider. It sounds like you need practice with only one foot strapped in. It would be beneficial to do this on a relatively flat surface. You don't even have to be on the mountain to practice; although with the severe lack of snow on the front range, you may have to be.

I think it is your responsibility to be able to complete a successful "dismount" from the lift and not the lift operator's responsibility to stop the lift for you.

Default Geez, I think I need to read your question again!

Sorry about that! I totally misread your post. I thought you said you were having problems get on and off the gondola! Der! When we can make it up to Vail we really enjoy using the Eagle Bahn Gondola. Just pick it up in Vail Square and it will take you up to some nice runs. The best part is that they have a magic carpet for the kiddos right next to the drop off point.
