Drive times to skiing
Hi,
Relocating to Denver this summer. How do drive times to skiing (Copper) compare in the Northern suburbs (as far up as Broomfield) to the Southern (as far down as Castle Rock)?
Also, any pros and cons of North vs. South?
THANKS! KAG

If you're skiing on weekends, your main issues are going to be along I-70 before you even get into the metro area. I-70 regularly gets backed up with weekend skiers in the mountains, between the Eisenhower Tunnel and Idaho Springs. But as far as living in the metro area, it really makes little difference. Castle Rock may be a bit more accessible to skiing than Broomfield simply because you can catch C-470 to I-70, but at most you're generally talking about 20 minutes' variability in drive times. I think your best bet is to simply find a neighborhood you like, because you'll be spending much more time there than you will be on I-70. Distance to skiing varies minimally across the metro area, so I think you just need to decide which neighborhood(s) you like more. Good luck!

On the other hand, given the long wait times there's something to be said for living right up against the foothills in Golden or parts of Wheat Ridge and Lakewood, to cut off that extra 20 minutes that would be there if you lived in Denver or points further out.

It is Eldora. You can get there on the RTD (city bus). No overnight facilities though.

I don't believe I disagreed with that.
