Question Center for Developmental Disabilities

Hello. Are there any centers for people with disabilities in the Denver area? I currently work for a center, similiar to a United Cerebral Palsy, as a Speech Pathologist. I am moving to the Denver area this summer and would really like to continue working with people who have disabilities. The center I work for has in-house daycare and workshops for adults, so within one building we have 6 weeks through elderly! We are hoping to live on the north side of town (i.e. Longmont, Erie, etc). Any ideas of centers in the area? Thanks.

Welcome to the area! My family and I moved to Louisville near Boulder last June from New Orleans. Our 11yo daughter has mental and physical disabilities. There is a good agency up here (near the areas you mentioned) called Imagine Colorado. They provide services to all age groups, we love them. My wife also visits a website called parent to parent of colorado. You can get a ton of info there. You can post your questions on their list-serve and I'm sure someone will have an answer for you. You will love Colorado and thank you in advance for your great work! Let me know if you have more questions.

Smile Centers

Thank you very much for your response. I have looked up the Imagine center and a few more that were listed in the links too. I really hope to find a job working with these kids and adults because I truly feel that it is what I am meant to do! I am working as an Augmentative Communication Specialist now and am having a hard time finding a company that will allow me to continue to specialize. My search continues. I am glad to hear that you have found wonderful services for your daughter and thanks again for your guidance!

I worked in the field for many years in Colorado Every county or metro area has what is called a Community Centered Board - for example Adams County's is North Metro Community Services, Jeffoco is Developmental Pathways etc... Definatly contact the board and they can discuss everything from IEP's and services to support groups and general information The JFK center also does some good evaluations and has good supports for families

DDRC provides in home services for folks in the metro area as does Foothills Gateway...

North Metro link is http://www.nmcommserv.com/ - they provide services for both adults and children

you can also visit the CACCB.org site for a full list of the CCB's in Colorado

Kentucky OT is on a distinguished road
Hi I'm an Occupational Therapist who just moved to the Denver area. I am searching for a career with people with disabilities. I just found the Developmental Pathways website tonight; are there other other facilities in the southeast Denver area that provide OT services? Thanks!
