Littleton vs. Lakewood?
I do like Littleton, but if you do want to be close to the mountains and I-70, then Lakewood is a good choice as well. Lakewood is probably more desirable in its western portions, though. Jefferson County Schools are actually quite good, but then again so are Littleton's. I think both places are good.

I have done some research online and have found great reviews on this place. Cost of living is very affordable there as well, very close to Denver and great mountain veiws also. The question id like to ask is whats the job market out there like? Im currently in the Information Technology field. I have done alot of looking around on some websites that post job applications and have seen alot of great jobs but is it really easy to get a job out there or is the market very competative? Also are there any pros and cons about Lakewood? Me and the wife want to be near the mountains, but not in a remote area?....Finally id like to ask about hiking whats it like to have those mountains right there and go hiking?.....
Thanks...............

The wife and I are originally from Indiana (me), Michigan (her). Before we met and after we met/married we lived in Southern Calif. (Orange County) for a number of years. After we married, we decided to move to the Denver metro area and lived in Englewood/Greenwood Village and now in Parker. The
cost-of-living here is much lower than in So Calif, but it is increasing by the year. Actually, before we bought our house in Parker, we did look at some houses in Lakewood, but decided against living in Lakewood. Lakewood "looks" older than Parker and we wanted a house away from the city of Denver. I work just a mile or two north of downtown Denver (28 miles from our house in Parker) and have a great commute to work. Only takes me about a half hour, but I do start work at 7AM.
But, now that we are in our late 50's and the winters here are taking a toll on our bodies, we are going to be heading for the inland area of North Carolina where the winters are even milder than here in Colorado.
Good luck with your move, but I would watch out living in Lakewood.

response to your move to co.
Lakewood has pretty areas to it, but it is a typical suburb. You can see the mountains, but you'd have to make the drive there like anywhere else. The 70 frwy is a dandy to drive-especially in winter! I moved here 2-1/2 yrs ago from Southern Cal., and intend to move back there this summer because I miss the lifestyle and the money available to make! You may want to actually get the job here before you move. The good point is, is that info-tech is a great market anywhere I would think. You may have to do a few interviews before you get a job. Be ready to settle for less pay than probably what you are working for now. As I understand it, most people here (not me though!), will take drastic cuts in pay to be able to live here. If you are thinking of becoming rich, is not the place.
Other things you should know: it is probably the dryest place you've ever been to! Good points is that clothes dry out fast, bad points is that your skin, nose, and throat will need to get used to it! Keep a humidifyer in the house attached to the furnace & you'll do fine.
If you like to hike, (I do too), this place is great for that! I'm lucky enough to live on 35 acres backed up to national forest so I can go anytime! (Hey, you want to buy my property??? I'm right in the mountains and about a 40 minute drive south of Lakewood, closest city to us is Castle Rock (15 mi) which isn't too far from the Denver tech center for work!). From our house it takes 35 min. to get to tech center.
Definitely a place to raise a family and if you like the outdoors. Weather is icy in winter, but from what I hear the winters are usually milder than what we have had this year. Alot of people are able to work out of their homes when they need to in the winter time. Summers are very hot, falls and spring are definitely the seasons!
Good luck

boulder county
I moved out here 7 years ago from Asheville, NC. To us, it was ridiculously expensive: like twice as much for a house that needed work. It always depends on where you move from. Denver itself is a beautiful city: close in to downtown check out Washington Park (absolutely beautiful old tudors, bungalows, etc close to of course a HUGE park with lake, playground, running/bike path, etc)
But, if you don't want Denver; please, you owe it to yourself to check out Boulder county. The schools are fabulous: literally top notch. I live in Louisville which has amazing views of the mountains, flatirons, etc. It is still boulder county but homes are almost half of what they are in Boulder itself is. Louisville was rated the number 5 town in America last year by Money magazine.
just my two cents of course. . .
