Question Mother's groups in Denver - Help please!

OK, we're new to the area and I'm a stay at home mom on the verge of insanity! OK that's a bit dramatic but I'm struggling to find other mom's groups in the Denver (Cherry Creek / Wash Park) area - I know there must be something out there but no luck as yet - looking to network with other mom's, exchange parenting info, childcare resources, but most importantly - have some fun! I've a 18 month year old son with another on the way. Any tried and tested resources? Any cool mom's groups out there?! In San Francisco we had something called the Golden Gate Mothers Group which was kinda fun.

Can't help you in your general vicinity, but have you checked MomsLikeMe.com | Where local moms meet ? It's an online mom's group sponsored by one of the local news stations and I'm sure it would be a good resource to find other mom's in your area as well as things to do.

I found a great mom's group in my area (Southeast Aurora/Centennial) on meetup.com. I know that when I sign into their website, there are other mom's groups in Denver that pop up as well. I'm sure you will be able to find a great group.

Also, get on babycenter.com and look in the communities section. There you will be able to narrow your field to Colorado, then Denver, and likely, the area you live in. The website itself is a great resource for all things baby and pregnancy. Good luck!

MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) has groups all over. Somewhat religious orientation. You could probably find a group by googling.

I also have met a lot of mothers at baby storytimes at our local library. They are always inviting people to go for coffee afterwards (but since my kindergartner has 1/2 day school, I have to rush off to pick her up). Find your local library and attend one of their baby or toddler storytimes.

Hi,

I'm not a mom, but I thought I could help out. I did a quick Google search that looked like this: Mom's group wash park denver

A good return was this one (which was number three on the first page of hits): MOMS Club of Wash Park

The home page says: MOMS Club of Denver Washington Park Area. (Apparently, MOMS stands for "Moms offering other moms support.")

Hope that helps! Looks like it would be a good start at least--it's in the neighborhood (I live in West Wash Park), and it seems to be offering the kind of support you're looking for.

Good luck! And welcome to the awesome Wash Park area!

look for the MOMS website, and there should be a list of chapters (Mothers Offering Mothers Support). International MOMS Club I think MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) has already been suggested. You could also try meetup.com.

denver_hacker will become famous soon enoughdenver_hacker will become famous soon enough
Aside from the formalized groups, getting to know some folks and pulling your own group together can work too. A good percentage of folks in Denver are transplants, there are always moms looking to commiserate!

Some ideas...

- Hang out at local parks. Wash Park has two play areas that are pretty busy - going on a regular schedule would probably mean you'd run into the same people. You're also near Platt Park, where there are a *ton* of young families now. Alamo Placita is also close.
- Sign up for some parent/tot classes (Gymboree, DU, Denver Parks and Rec, there are music programs all over the place, Schlessman YMCA, etc.).
- We've met folks through my son's pre-school.
- The library times are great:

DPL: Locations & Hours

- In the summer there's a Farmer's Market on Old South Pearl Street, which is still small and very neighborhood-centric.
- The Zoo is enrolling for their summer day trips as well, might want to check them out.
- Check out the message boards at the hangout spots on South Pearl and South Gaylord (esp. Stellas...for that matter, just hang out at Stellas for a day or two and you meet half the neighborhood).

Default MOD Moms

Mod Moms is another great organization for Moms in Denver. Lots of the members live in the Wash Park/Cherry Creek area.
