NewToArvada is on a distinguished road
Default Best way to commute from Arvada to Downtown Denver

I will be moving to a new house near the intersection of 88th and Wadsworth. Both me and my wife will work in downtown denver.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me the following
what is the best way to commute?
What buses routes I can use? Also I can drive to the closest Park-n-Ride
Much does the monthly pass cost for the above bus fare?
Thanks
Brijesh

You cannot have it any easier. Drive east on 88th and across Sheridan is the Westminster Park n' Ride. There are numerous buses to downtown The Bus that runs day and night is the Route B (local) from Boulder. It has no other stops until it hits downtown. It ends in Market Street Station.

In the morning/to and the afternoon/return commuting rush, there are also express buses that start around the neighborhood or begin at the Park n' Ride and go to downtown, every 5-10 minutes or so. They go direct to Market Street Station. Also the L Bus from Longmont, going downtown, stops at Westminster. You probably can also take the Route 92 from 88th and Wadsworth to get to Westminster and transfer to any bus.

Now the express buses when they go/return stop at both sides of the Park n' Ride, so you do not have to walk across the pedestrian bridge over Hwy. 36. The Regional Buses, B and L, stop only on one side, going Downtown on the southwest, and coming from Downtown on the northeast side, so you have to walk across the bridge. In addition, all local buses stop at one side of the Park n Ride.

The fare from Westminster is considered an express fare, even on the regional B and L buses. You can also go cheaper downtown, if you have all the time in the world, because Route 31 Federal, goes to/from downtown from Westminster Park n' Ride and is a local fare--but it stops at every stop along Federal and arrives in downtown at Colfax.

The info for all the fares and routes are at
The Regional Transportation District Home Page

Boulder Bus is Route B and there are two the express and local. The local stops at Westminster. Keep that in mind when you return from Market Street station; do not take the express which does not stop. Local only means that it stops along I-36 but it does not matter because the first stop is Westminster. Travel time is about 15 minutes. Again Route L, to from/to Longmont may help you at times.

The express buses that stop at Market Street are 82X, 86X and 108X. They are on all one schedule brochure. One of the buses you can even walk to from your house. Also you pay fare or show your pass, when returning from downtown, when you get off the bus. That is because they want to get the buses, loaded quickly at Market Street. You probably will be home at Westminster Park n' Ride in about 13 minutes.

There are many ways to buy fares and get discounts. Your employer may provide them free. You have to check at RTD site.

I use this Park n' Ride often to downtown, I think I covered everything....This is a very heavily used Park n' Ride to Downtown. Parking is adequate because they have a garage on the northeast side of I-36 but the surface lot on the southwest side fills up quickly. For easier transit and where you live, you may never have to drive because you can possible take one of the feeder express buses or route 92 near your house. Also, another strange way to go is to take Route 76, Wadsworth, north to Broomfield PnR or south to Arvada PnR and take the buses from there. You got many good options. You will never be stranded downtown. You picked a great place to live.
