Smile Giving birth in Littleton area!

Hi guys,

I am 5 months pregnant and I am moving from NYC to Littleton area on the end of months.
I am on Medicaid here in New York, and I was wondering if someone can give me tips where to apply for Medicaid so I can get my prenatal care as soon as I get there and suggest me hospital to give birth.
Here in New York I was going for prenatal care in the hospital, and they also do pick up for pregnant women and right there from hospital you can apply for Medicaid as well.
Please if someone know how is Denver area (Littleton) would be so helpful.

Thank you so much!
Great day!

I don't know a ton about it, but you can get depending on the county you live in, you apply at the social service office. Also a lot of the doctors offices can help you apply and then recommend a hospital to go to. I hope that helps some.

If you google "(county name) Colorado medicaid" it should come up.

The smartest thing for you to do is to stay in New York until you give birth. Coming to another state and seeking help, immediately, is difficult, maybe not impossible. There are processing periods for all programs and that takes time.

But if you do not have any options, this is where you should start. Information at the State level is found at
HCPF:
with the medicaid link at
HCPF:Medicaid Eligibility
This will give you the general outline of all social help programs
http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite...%2FHCPFAddLink This link will also give you the information for all the county offices.

The previous poster is correct, all request for help goes to each individual county. Littleton is the county seat of Arapahoe County
Human Services

However, note that you may not be living in Littleton, even though you have a Littleton address. Many addresses just use Littleton but they may also be in areas of unincorporated Jefferson County which is closer to Littleton for mail processing.
Human Services - Jefferson County, CO

Your best bet is to make several phone calls from where you are and verify that you can get assistance immediately but again you have to apply and be processed.

<sigh> Could you maybe have considered all of this before you got pregnant? </sigh>

There's a great hospital, Skyline Ridge Hospital, in nearby Lone Tree, CO, with a brand new, absolutely fantastic maternity wing. I'm sure they can help you get the info you need.
Denver Hospital - Sky Ridge Medical Center , Pediatrics, Spine, Orthopedics, Women's Services, Birthing, gynecology, Cancer, Colon Rectal, Health Healthcare, Colorado

Or, better yet, heed Livecontent's first line of advice above.

<sigh>I'm sure you need to apply for Medicaid first, then find out what hospitals you can go to. I'm sure Skyridge is nice, but is not the first place I think of when I hear "medicaid." There is Littleton Adventist, too.

Tracy Ryan Birth Center in Englewood and Rose Midwifery in Denver both accept medicaid.

Generally, a doctor will have priviledges (be able to admit patients) at several hospitals. A doctor that takes medicaid will have priviledges at a hospital that accepts medicaid. I do agree with livecontent that staying in NY until the baby is born may be the best idea.
