I just don't have the luck you guys have w/Frontier, and I've tried! Although I remember a year or two ago when there were all these good flights to Mexico via Frontier, I just didn't go then.

Re: Drug wars. Most of that stuff is in the border towns, not the resort areas. We are going to Playa del Carmen in May, and while we don't do the big all-inclusive resort thing and stay in town, it's still completely safe. When I see people run into big problems, it's when they visit a foreign country and decide to do drugs.

p.s. - My flight there is not non-stop and it's sold out.

You are correct about heading south for us. I wonder if that will change much with the current escallation in violence in the drug wars?

Yeah, locals tell me that our winter here in northeast Florida was the coldest in 28 years! We had 24 days where the mercury went below freezing.

When I lived in Denver, we often would fly (Frontier! the best breakfast burritos) to various locations in Florida over President's Day weekend or spring break.
This was partly to enjoy a warmer climate, and partly because I always yearned for the ocean.
But my very first trip to Florida (back in January 1983) they were having a freak cold front, we had to wear sweaters and long pants and there was lots of frost damage.

The good news is that usually the frost danger is over by April, if not earlier.

That's a good point. I know the border towns are getting bad, but not sure about the resorts. We used to go down to Mexico at least a couple times a year when we lived in CA, either for shopping or to enjoy beaches down south of Ensenada, but after 9-11 stopped going due to the added hassles (and it was a BIG hassle pre-9-11) of getting back into the U.S.

Frontier is awesome. I always fly them for work, direct flights everywhere, and never a problem. Plus I like the TV option.
