Does anyone visit Florida to escape the cold in the winter?
Hello,
Does anyone who lives in Denver visit Florida often during the winter or have a condo there? If not Florida, where do you go in the winter to get away from the cold if you can?
Thanks

I've never been to Florida. My family at least always heads to the desert southwest-- Phoenix especially, sometimes Las Vegas (although in the dead of winter LV can be cold too) to warm up-- especially in March, when it's usually perfect swimming weather in PHX.

what I do is wait until next week when its back into the 70's. Anyone who would go all the way to florida to "escape" the cold is a moron with more money than brains.

There really is no reason to escape the cold here, if it's cold one day, it's guaranteed at least 3 of the next 7 will be warmer and/or sunny.
I embrace the cold here, I really wish there was more of it.

Well, really! Some people do go for a nice little vacation to Disneyworld. Lots of people go to Hawaii and/or Mexico.

Well Hawaii is going to cost a whole lot more than Ft. Lauderdale/Miami
You can go to L.A. or south Texas for very cheap.. and it will be warm. By this time in March though, it seems a bit pointless.

I stay in Colorado and enjoy the generally mild Winter weather! A truely cold day does pop up here and again but that's ok.
Rainy weather in Florida that may be a few degrees warmer or sunny weather in Colorado that takes the chill away?

Like Katiana, we take a Disney vacation occasionally, but it's not to escape the cold. We take the kids to see their Grandparents, who live outside Orlando. Having grown up in the icy midwest, I don't find the winter weather all that bad, but it's nice to get away nonetheless.
BTW, what's with the people calling others morons if they spend money? It seems to be a trend here at C-D lately!

Florida is not immune to cold weather. They get cold fronts just like everywhere else from time to time (maybe just not as cold).

We're moving to Florida from Denver. We were there this winter for some of the coldest weather they'd had in 10 years. We barely needed to turn the heat on at night and it only lasted a few days. You really can't compare Florida's cold weather to what we get here.
