Default Platt Park in Manageable Bytes -- Part 3 -- Residential

This is Part 3 of the Platt Park photo tour. This part includes residential shots and the southern commercial area of S Pearl Street

Part 1 covers the somewhat gritty NW quadrant of Platt Park including the Broadway Light Rail Station and the area around Broadway and Louisana.

In Part 2 we cover Acoma Street and then go south of Lousiana on Broaday into the Antiques District.

In Part 4 we cover the northern part of South Pearl St. (which is the primary commercial area) and then some more residential shots, some school shots and end up with a few shots outside of Platt Park (Wash Park and Downtown Skyline)

Almost all the photos were taken during the month of Feburary 2009.

Probably the most typical type of housing in Platt Park is shown in the next couple of photos

This house it an example of a "poptop" where the owners take a typical Bungalow similar to the above photo and expand it and add a second floor

This is an "alley house", built in the back of the main house and typically rented out for extra income -- this one must be a converted garage. Almost every block in central Denver has an alley, similar to Chicago in that regard I guess.

Typical Alley

Ran into Tom, who is the editor of the newsletter for the Platt Park People's Association ( 3PA: The Platt Park People's Association )

Typical of the newer construction scattered throughout the neighborhood

The new house is across the street from this alley house

Gate for the alley house

Some Modern stuff

Another alley house

Ok, we now arrive on Pearl Street. This is the southern part of the commercial district... the main commercial section will be in part 4. We head north on Pearl from the intersection with Jewell Ave.

Stan the UPS man is a popular guy

Maybe 30 seconds after taking the previous photo, Stan the man arrives

Continue on to the heart of the S Pearl St. Commercial district, and some other miscellenous shots here:
