I am planning on moving to the Denver area in the summer.

I am a teacher and am starting to look for a position for the 2009-2010 school year.
I would like to live in downtown Denver.
I am not familiar with the area can some one please help me and let me know how I should go about finding a position for next year!

Thank you!

Seriously though this is going to be a tough year to find a teaching job around Denver. It depends on your subject though. If you are trained in ELA then you have a better chance. Check out the district websites or go to the Colorado Department of Education. It is really tough and I wouldn't move out here unless you have something lined up. Some districts have stopped taking applications for substitutes, so that should tell you something.

I looked at the DPS listings a few weeks ago and there are positions available. I'm sure not as many as in the past but there's not a complete hiring freeze. And of course like many districts, teachers are needed in low areas like hs math, science as well as ELA and SPED.
