hey, all,
I'm looking to compile a list of awesome things for the under 18 set, outdoors and not the usual suspects, for an article to run in Douglas County. Let's call it a day trip limit for mileage.
What's out here that I have missed?
Cheap is good.
Unique is better.
What's beyond the local pool, Skyventure, and mall crawling for "not tots" to teens?

Don't want to get in trouble for reposting...I just posted on "Ideas for a Colorado Staycation". All of the information there from La Junta and Southeast Colorado is a day trip for Douglas County. We are "Cheap" "Unique" and have a good time down here! I am sure it is a day trip....I have Bronco Season tickets and tailgate and all....we make it in a day!

Just to make this one a little different from the staycation....here is another picture of the Koshare Indian Dancers. They celebrated the 75th year of the Boy Scout Troop last July. The picture is taken in the Kiva...the largest such structure in the world. See www.koshares.org or www.lajuntaevents.com for performance dates.

Many students from metro area schools come down for field trips.

How about the Wings over the Rockies museum at Lowry? I guess the Coors tour would be out. There's also the Railroad Museum north of Golden.

Since Opening Day is tomorrow, don't forget a Rockies Game. There is nothing like a great summer day of baseball. My kid doesn't understand the game but is riveted by doing "the wave", watching Dinger and singing along with the fans. If your kids understand how the game is played, even better. There are great packages to buy during certain games ($40 for 4 tix, hotdogs, etc) and it's a great excuse to buy your kids a hot dog, cracker jacks and cotton candy.
