I just got an internship for this summer, and I am looking for a three month lease on an apartment. I am coming from Louisiana, and will be unable to bring furniture, so a furnished apartment would be great. I also have a dog, so pet-friendly is essential.

I am looking for something easy and cheap.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I would check Craigslist. We just finished up a month to month lease on a furnished 2 b/r apartment across from the Lincoln Station, which is 470 @ I-25, but it was definitely not cheap...$107 per day. But that did include all utilities. And they did allow pets.

I'd second Sheridan's suggestion-- search Craigslist for rooms for rent in people's houses, people who need extra roommates, people subleasing their apartments for the summer, etc. There's normally dozens of new ads there posted every single day.

Another alternative to consider is living with a roommate, plenty of people here advertising on craigslist wanting to rent out a room or split an apartment/house that they are already in. It's not for everyone but it's something to look in to.

edit: doh, missed part of vegas' post, he already said that

Craigslist is a good place to start. You can move in as a room mate, since it's short term, like the other members say.

Coz I have to warn you, such short term leases can jack your monthly rent up to, say, 900$.

I was a victim to this norm couple months ago when I was apt-hunting.

Everyone has a nice scheming system. The ad screams something like, only 650$ a month. And they want you sign on a royal 12 to 18 month lease, the special features including a billiards room I'll hardly visit.

The moment they hear the number three, they get a microscopic frown and then proceed to draw their shiny black calculator, key in some funky numbers and flash it out on you - 869.50$

"Yeah, I'm sorry, but it's the market rate. I know it's... but since it's such a short term"

And the 869.50$ stands tall on its own. They proceed to place pizza toppings - admin fee, application fee and a security deposit. And unlike Pizza hut, there's no choice of toppings, lol.
