cherry creek school dist is very overrated. its a special dist, that will tax you to death, esp in Aurora which is turning into most undesirasble places to live in denver metro area along with commerce city. dont just fall for cherry creek schools, do your research and make imformed decision. if your child wants to learn and progres well he or she will, cherry chreek schools does'nt have anything to do with that. its a unjust enrichment part of special district that is very expensive to own a home in. example, if you own a $250k home in aurora you will pay abour $3000 per year in property taxes!!!!! in denver city limits, its $1200.

Although there are several small enclaves of unincorporated Arapahoe County surrounded on all sides by the city of Denver that ARE in the CCSD.

Wow, a lot of response over one little comment!

OK, I know I'm being really technical about this.... I know there are enclaves of Arapahoe County in Denver and I know that the boundaries around Denver are jagged and can be strange. But all the locations in the map posted in the link above are in Arapahoe County-- none of that is in Denver proper. If you look at a map (and I have a Denver map with city and county boundaries open and on my lap as I type this) you'll see that the CCSD boundaries correlate directly with the boundaries between Denver and Arapahoe counties. I really don't want to make this a huge issue, but I also don't want somebody to be looking at houses in the city of Denver that are also in CCSD-- it just doesn't exist. ALL of the city and county of Denver is served by DPS, there are no areas in the city and county of Denver where the assigned school would be something other than in the DPS system.

The DPS map covers all of the city and county of Denver: http://planning.dpsk12.org/DistrictMaps/elem_06-07.pdf (broken link)

CCSD is overrated and expensive. i speak from experince, not arrogance. im not a realtor. i have nothing to gain by telling you to move to denver or else where. if you move to CCSD, be prepared to pay$$$. i tell you secret, look at retail sections of area you want to move to if they have lots of pawn shops, mexican grocers or check cashing places you can be sure its a dump. City of Aurora is prime example of that, a jerry springer neighborhood!!!!!. homes are cheaper for a reason in Aurora

Default African American living in Parker CO

I lived in Parker for 3 years with my 3 brown kids, but now live in California and looking to move to Birimingham this summer. I still say that Parker had the best schools and is the safest place in the Denver Metro area.
I am an African American mom and a real soul sister from GA. and I found found nothing but love from my peach sisters and well as my chocolate sisters.
My kids are begging us to move back there.

The Broncos training camp is 5mins away from Parker so where do you think those chocolate brothas with their chocolate sistas and kids live?

heh, Sally
Not every Bronco of color lives out there, though, I know from experience.

Commuting from Parker to Lakewood every day would get mighty old.

I always wondered if CCSD was overrated, but as with most schools I think you get out of it as much as you put in.
