How big and solid is the gay community in Denver? (and I don't mean nightlife, etc)
...I mean in terms of political organizations, social clubs, gay rights movements, gay-friendly churches, gay theatre, etc?
I am a soon-to-be Denver resident (going to college for the first time at 40! Yay!) and as a gay man, I would love to be affiliated with some sort of gay rights organization or attend some sort of spiritual gathering that is all inclusive.
As for the nightlife, clubs, bars...meh, not my thing (never was anyway) but I would definitely like to know if there are gay-oriented theaters (non-adult, silly!) and live shows.
And is the Denver gay community well organized as far as politics?
Are there any Social Work agencies that cater to gay/lesbian populations?
Is Denver in general a relatively tolerant, inclusive city?
How is the art scene?
Thanks a million for any help.

There are many other threads on this topic, so do a search if you haven't already. Capitol Hill / Cheeseman Park are the epicenter or gayborhoods. Tons of affirming and accepting churches there and really all around Denver. Burbs will have less to none. Less glam then WeHo and Chelsea but very comfortable. Everything from choruses to skiing and flag football teams. Very unified community - check out the local rag - Out Front Colorado - Colorado's Largest GLBT Publication
We rank 5th amongst cities in the amount of artists and there are several art districts - Golden Triangle, Santa Fe Drive, Tennyson, and RiNo.
Theater is also huge here for Broadway show, 2nd largest performing arts complex outside NYC and use to be 2nd in tickets sales as well. Off Broadway can be found at the Bug, Phoenix, Civic and Acoma theaters.
