If they send you a picture of your car send them a picture of the cash for the fine. Talk about unconstitutional!

Trouble? Did you say trouble?

I see manacles and leg irons in your future. Striped suits. Huge dirt lots with high fences. Blistering sun, no shade, unending thirst. And lo, hear ye the sound of lost souls breaking rocks with 9-pound mauls ... the platoon of the damned....

I had the same thing happen to me on a left turn at Lincoln & Park Meadows Dr. They sent me a picture of my car, plate # and my face clear as day. The first one was only a warning.

I think the penalty for running a light varies depending on your city. I got one in Mountain View and it was $130.

Good luck, I know how you feel.

Fine is $75 Greenwood Village:
Greenwood Village Official Website! (http://www.greenwoodvillage.com/index.aspx?nid=597 - broken link)

It is cheaper than getting caught by an actual LEO then you'll get a bigger fine and points. FAQ does say that it will only photograph you if you go into the intersection after the light has turned red.

If those who imprison and torture me there were recruited directly from Hef's mansion, I want life imprisonment, please I also prefer waterboarding in the pool, if that kind of torture is available.

Default 4 Big Tony

A man was driving when a traffic camera flashed. He thought his picture was taken for exceeding the speed limit, even though he knew he was not speeding.

Just to be sure, he went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed.

He thought this was quite funny, so he slowed down even further as he drove past the area, but the traffic camera flashed yet again.

He tried a fourth time with the same result. The fifth time he was laughing when the camera flashed as he rolled past at a snail's pace.

Two weeks later, he got five traffic fine letters in the mail for driving without a seat belt.... men.

My wife got me a red light ticket recently, thankfully I will get out of it as I wasn't driving but the turnaround time was 2 weeks - from date of violation to date ticket was received. $75 fine and no points.

My wife got a photo enforcement ticket from Greenwood Village two years ago. They will only fine you $75 and you don't have to go to court unless you want to contest it.

Assuming the system is not malfunctioning and has been properly maintained...these automated systems have been proven to be unreliable and hardly mistake-free. Good luck trying to fight anything though.

I don't really want to get in to the good/bad regarding these things though, but since they don't go on your DMV report and your insurance is unaffected as well as no points taken off it creates a privileged class of drivers if you're lucky to have enough money to burn and ignore the cameras. I imagine the reason they don't affect insurance/license points is because they're borderline legal (some would say illegal including myself...depends on state and local laws, last city I lived in had to pass new city ordinances and all kinds of other stuff in an attempt to comply with state law. What a mess and it's still being fought in court) and just there to make money. If the city was truly wanting to make driving safer they'd hit people where it hurts...insurance premiums and license points, these have much more of an impact on a person's life and over a longer period of time. But, as I said, these systems are not 100% reliable so, imho, the cities just impose fines and figure that's enough to produce extra revenue without creating too many legal challenges.

Heck, some cities have even removed the cameras because after a few years they weren't making money on them since drivers knew which intersections had it and simply were more cautious at those intersections (but not at surrounding ones). Now why would a city remove these "safety" devices because of lack of revenue generation if their true motive was public safety? Food for thought...

As for the vans...back where I recently moved from I always gave them the middle finger when I passed them so I could be sure it was me if I was ever sent a ticket. Those things caused more problems than anything, people slamming on their brakes even if they were doing the speed limit just because they saw one, screwing up traffic flow, etc. I hate them, I'd rather a cop give me a ticket than a PRIVATE CORPORATION any day even if the fines are higher...at least then you are presumed innocent until proven guilty unlike the previous city I lived in (guilty until proven innocent, have to pay a court fee BEFORE you can fight it, and if you lose you have to pay even more in fees).

/rant

I had one of those cameras flash when I was in an intersection turning left a week or two ago too. I wasn't the last in line and was in the intersection before the light turned red. If they can't get a clear pic of your face does the law here still allow them to send you the fine? My windows are 5% tint all the way around except the windshield and I sit fairly far back (not "G-style" though lol) so getting enough light to illuminate my face would be hard
