I have really lost respect for RTD. They now say they cannot do the public private partnership because it needs a vote under the law. They have been talking about this project for years and heralding all the money they are going to get from the Feds. But, now, after all these meetings and study sessions, they now say it requires a vote for this specific project. What has all these high paid legal staff been doing, all this time???? It is all BS.

RTD will never get approval for more money under any vote in the near future. It is stupid even to think that it will happen with the economy and how they falsified the cost and the tax estimates. I am and always been a strong supporter of public transit but I am starting to view it all with anger and pessimism.

I agree - it's not the idea, it's the execution! What about getting some of the stimulus money to work on it? With the dollars being thrown around, the cost of Fastracks seems like peanuts. Centennial & CDOT just repaved University between County Line and Dry Creek and put up big blue signs saying 'Paid for with Stimulus funds etc.' Not sure how that qualified, but they got it down very, very quick. Centennial must be doing something right because they have been doing a lot or road improvements in a time when city dollars are at a premium.

Some of the stimulus money is being used for infrastructure improvements for the corridors. On the Gold Line Corridor, the re-alignment of Pecos by Adams county has been awarded. I think there are others but I am having trouble following all the construction.

That good to hear! I would prefer that the transit upgrades would've gotten higher priority when that state was doling out the money.
