Haley Wood is on a distinguished road
Default Denver to Park City, UT, end of August

On the road again, this time to pick up a friend in Park City, UT and come back to Denver. Do I have to go thru WY, or would CO roads be easy end of August? I'll be making the trip one way alone, with two dogs along for the company, but they're no help driving. On the way back, my friend will be along and we're not on a strict timetable. Advice, please. Thanks!

I can tell you right now, as someone that just drove the 80 from SLC thru Wyo to Colorado, avoid it at all costs. It appears all the stimulus money gone to Wyoming is being used for reconstruction of 80. There are about 7 or 8 stretches of construction, many of which reroute traffic into a single lane, one side of the road only configuration. Although I still made good time around 7 hrs to Ft Collins, it is just a pain. Besides, I think 70 would be more scenic, but do cut through Steamboat Springs, then take the 40 to get you to Park City. Can anyone advise on construction or other delays on these routes?

I agree with taking the above route. Use this site for road info: Road Conditions, Speeds, Travel Times, Traffic Cameras, Live Streaming Traffic Cameras, Road Closures and Road Work Information provided by Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) a branch of Colorado Department of Transportation
