You could always head into the foothills and look in places like Conifer, Aspen Park or Morrison. You will be surrounded by the hills are are still within 30 minutes of west Littleton (on an average day). It really depends on where you are working in Littleton. From there, its 30 minutes, but to the eastern side of littleton, it may be 45-50 depending on traffic.

Just an FYI, you can see the mountains from 80 mile away. Say Parker for instance. Its almost 40 miles from Parker to the base of the foothills, yet is some places, due to the rolling terrain, you can see them quite clear.

If you want a view of the mountains, you might as well live in the Lone Tree/Highlands Ranch area. Just south of there it gets a little hilly-er and has more trees, which I think is nice. Littleton is not in the mountains. even Ken Caryl Valley is just behind the first hog back. It may feel more mountainy, but just barely. If you are renting, I would suggest staying close to work in Lone Tree, and you can always move later, if you want to be closer to the mountains. Highlands Ranch has lots of running trails for you and some awesome views.

This was taken from the corner of Broadway and Wildcat Reserve Pkwy in Highlands Ranch. there are some apartments or condos nearby. I have no idea what rent is like.
