I would try the Hyatt downtown. It would only be about a 10 minute drive to Wheatridge from there. The Hyatt has an amazing lounge with great view of the city and mountains. Best time is to watch the sun go down then all the lights of the city come on.

That might be a bit far. But good suggestion, I've stayed there before and it's very nice and well-run.

i would stay downtown too- you'll only have to drive to Wheat Ridge and the rest of the time could do light rail,etc.... downtown. This would minimize your time in car and like others said, it is a pretty light drive, only about 10-15 min. I'd stay at the Teatro or the Hyatt.
