We are looking to go on a ski vacation and would like to be within 90 minutes from Denver - or closer. My husband is an expert skier so it would need to be somewhere where he could have some challenge. Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

Many are - Loveland, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Mary Jane - so long as the weather is clear and roads are driveable on both sides of the tunnel.

By Mary Jane you mean Winter Park -- which is as you say on a good day at the right time of day about an hour and 15 minutes away.

Loveland is the closest, then Arapahoe Basin just over the pass. After that you are talking over the divide and everything is generally 80 miles or so from Denver so you are right at an hour and a half without traffic for places like Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Keystone. Tack on another 45 minutes and you are further west in Vail.

Your mileage will vary on these times depending on where you are in the metro. I'm quoting times from downtown assuming you use 6th Ave west to get out to I-70. Folks to the north, south and east are going to need more time.
