I suppose mailing a picture of 80 bucks wouldn't be well received?

Mythbusters did a an investigation into how one might beat a speeding ticket camera (similar concept). Sprays and covers on license plate didn't work and may be illegal in some states/areas. See Episode 73 "Speed Cameras."

You are correct in that it doesn't add points or affect your driving record.
I do stand corrected.

I've always felt that on this show they declare myths much too quickly. There are things you can put on that will prevent the picture from being taken (although they probably obscure the license plate enough to see with the naked eye)

I agree they do tend to gloss things over at times on that show.

However Illinois, interestingly enough, has specifically outlawed any type of film or coating on license plates for the past few years for this very reason.

Obstruction of registration plate visibility to electronic image recording

That's where you and I disagree. I have no problem with people who speed, run red lights, and/or drunk drive paying HUGE fines. Better than sticking it to all of us with their new fees for registering your vehicle. Colorado has no money. I'd rather see the state/cities get some by penalizing those who don't do the right thing. I'd like to see Colorado follow Arizona's lead in installing speeding cameras all over the place. They can catch a bunch of speeders at once and use the traffic police in places they really need them (like accidents). If you don't want to pay, don't speed, stop at red lights and don't drink and drive. Seems pretty straightforward to me (and I am one that had 2 photo radar tickets when I lived in AZ. Made me mad, but I did it, so I learned my lesson by ticket #2).

I don't have a problem with speeders, red light runners and (especially) drunk drivers paying huge fines either, so long as they are caught by cops.

The idea of cameras everywhere IMO would create an uncomfortable authoritarian environment that wouldn't be much fun to live in.

And like always, I will continue to do what I highlighted in bold.

A question regarding revenue from traffic violations. Let's say some jurisdiction, say Aurora, decided to do a massive campaign where they gave everybody tickets for everything in an attempt to raise revenue. Would they be able to spend it under TABOR? I believe it limits spending as well as taxes.

To nail my paranoia in the coffin, once and for all, I called the Greenwood Village office and they directed me to the "Court Office". The customer service rep checked some traffic violation database for my plate and she said there was nothing.

Perhaps you guys can pro-actively find out, rather than waiting for the tickets to arrive
