Default Would Denver be a good fit for me?

I am in the situation where I can pretty much move anywhere within financial reason. I want a place where I can find a decent job like Administrative area and not have to pay more than $600 a month for a studio or one bedroom. I want to be in a hip area where I can either walk or within a mile or two of things to do. Can Denver provide me with this? If so what areas would be recommended?

Thanks!

Price wise given your budget it might be a little tough, although not too bad and there's a good chance you could find what you're looking for. I've read that Denver is one of the cheapest big cities to live in.

Define "financial reason."

Find the job you want first, don't move without having one, then that will help you narrow down the area.

I moved to the Denver-Metro area a few months ago and it has really grown on me! I live in a 2bedroom in the Glendale area for $845 so I imagine you could prob find a one bedroom for around the $600 range. Wash Park and Bonnie Brae are also nice areas right in there. When I looked into the LoDo area for studios they seemed to run a bit higher like $2000/mo. Hope that helps, good luck with your search and move!!!

I was going to recommend Cap Hill, Cheeseman Park, Washington Park. Are you willing to share a house? If so, you might be in a good range in those areas, try shared apartments, rentals on craigslist. Glendale is good too, RTD has good service out there on the 83Limited.

I moved to Cheesman park just a few weeks ago, and also helped a friend find a place in the area. There are some studios and 1-bedrooms available for under $600 a month, and a lot available for about $650.

As far as the neighborhood goes, I agree with everything 5280milehiguy said. Where I am in Cheesman I'm just two blocks from 3 bars, two grocery stores, a coffee shop, a pizza place, 3 theaters, and the art museum. I'm also only 4 miles from work. You can definitely find what you're looking for.

If you can find a job before you move, all the better. But I was looking for admin type work when I moved, and couldn't get a response until I was here. I applied for everything I could find on craigslist, and had a job within a month. Mind you, I put out about 150 applications and only got 3 interviews. But I think there's work here.

You could move into LoDo or Five Points, that's close to downtown and in Five Points there's a very "urban feel" with a lot of history and things to do. You could also live in Highlands, Capitol Hill, Cheeseman Park, Baker...all safe neighborhoods with an urban feel to them. I think those are probably the best.

Capitol Hill is the one you want. I pay $500 for a studio but really it's just about a one bedroom. Super close to downtown / Colfax / Broadway.
