I apologize personally to you if I did offend, as I meant no disrespect; you know I really don't think anybody has 2.5 kids.
No offense taken! Just wanted to point out your generalization does have limitations! I won't disagree that the core city is more suited to the younger couples.

KateG7669 is on a distinguished road
congrats on moving to CO, you are going to LOVE it!!! If you want to be close to the mountains, I would suggest littleton, castle rock or centennial. These locations are a bit further from down town then you may want to be however you do have access to the light rail and the night life and shopping are still good in these areas If you are MORE interested in being closer to down town I would look in cherry creek, glendale or wash park.

I wouldn't recommend Castle Rock to a younger couple without children. Our neighbors didn't recognize our existence for months as we don't have kids - just 3 dogs. I know, why did we move to Castle Rock then? Because we may have kids some day and we do like the town itself. It's just that most activities revolve around the little ones. We also split time between working in Northern CO Springs and south Denver so Castle Rock was a great middle ground.

For clarification to the OP,
I wouldn't say that Castle Rock is closer to the mountains than Denver. It takes us on average 2 hours to get to Breckenridge on the weekends.

The night life in CR is average at best. And if the OP is interested in a bar/pub/club setting it is probably below average. Very good restaurants for a small(er) town, though.

The light rail does not run to Castle Rock. It is a quick drive to the Lincoln stop but I believe that you have to pay for parking if you are not a resident of a town that services the light rail.
