Default single? transplant?

how's your experience been making friends?

being single?

finding work?

might help for perspective to hear a bit about your tastes, how long you've been here, what your particular situation's like, etc.. thought it might help to have such thoughts in one place here.

thanks.

Rawlings will become famous soon enough
I'm married so I can't really comment on the subject too extensively. All I can say is that Denver's the kind of place where it seems all the good singles are to found in church. I can't put my finger on it either--but the whole bar/club/singles scene is just broken here. Wanna get hitched? Go to church--of which there are plenty of young ones.

Default #1 place for singles?

Hi, hello-to-world, I am single & a transplant as well. I moved to Colorado from Texas 8 months ago & in my experience it can be pretty tough in making new friends--all depends on your personality. If you're an outgoing person, then you'll probably be fine. Though I have recently read that Denver is the #1 place for singles to live. Yet the other posters seem to differ. I've never been to church before, either! Let's hope that's not where we have to go to to meet people! I have to disagree with the others as well---I've met the nicest people here! I think it's all in your perspective. I moved from a suburb of Dallas---and THEY are completely unfriendly to newcomers (I was a transplant there as well.) I've been thinking of joining a soccer league or other type of club or sport---maybe find people who share your interets. I was lucky enough, too, to find this site to ask questions from people who already have lived here awhile. From the other posts I've read, it seems to be really helpful. Good luck to you.

I think it depends on your neighborhood too- Wash Park, where I live is a mecca for singles! So is downtown. I've found that parts of downtown and Cherry Creek tend to skew older singles/divorcees, etc. A little odd. I agree that joining a league or running club would be a good thing. Not sure if "Wine Brats" is still around, you could try to google but that was a great thing for singles as well. Also, lots of organizations have "Young Professionals" organizations- Denver Zoo has a volunteer group, so does Denver Art Musemn (CultureHaus). If you are into volunteerism, that may be a good idea as well.

I always like Denver's single scene; but I agree, it depends on where you are. Lots of the hip neighborhoods in Denver it is really easy to meet people and such, but if you get out to the suburbs it becomes much more clickish, where it depends on who you know. When I went to suburban bars I found it impossible to meet people, but in the city I never had any problem. There are also lots of activities or volunteer opportunities to take up which can help expand your pool of singles.
