Question Westminster or Broomfield??

Hey, everyone! I am new to the site & was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I currently live in Longmont & will be moving in the fall due to work & whatnot. My job will be somewhere in Westminster off 36 (we're not sure exactly where yet) & I found some really nice apts off 36 as well in both cities. I know nothing about this area. Westminster seems really big & driving thru some parts of it, it doesn't seem that nice. The only part of Broomfield I really know is around Flatirons Mall.

Does anyone live in either one of these cities and/or can tell me anything about them? I'm single in my late 20s, no kids or any of that, just looking for a nice area to live with hopefully the chance of meeting some new people! I've only lived in Colorado since last September. I want to finish college probably in Westminster or Denver & eventually get a new job----am I right in thinking that that area or north of Denver is where jobs are more plentiful? Longmont seems so small compared to Westminster or Broomfield.

I've read a post on here that being single in the Denver area sucks. But yet I read that Denver was the #1 place to live for singles!!! What is up with that? Any input on that?

Any thoughts or advice for the new girl would be appreciated!!

Personally I thought Denver was a great city to be in for a single. I really enjoyed the nightlife. However, the nightlife is in Denver, not Westminster or Broomfield. I would say Westminster over Broomfield just because it is closer to Denver and the cultural amenities that Denver offers.

As far as finishing college your options from the northeast side of town are either to go down to Denver to UCD or Metro or go to go to Regis or DU (both private and expensive) or commute up to Boulder for CU

On jobs, there are jobs all over the metro area. There are a lot of jobs on the north side but there are more jobs on the southeast side of town. The Denver Technical Center (DTC) is located off I-25 in southeast Denver and is a huge office park.

I wouldn't say that it is the greatest singles town in the county--not by a long shot. But that doesn't mean that it's a bunch of old-guys in flannel roaming the streets of Denver, either. There are plenty of young single guys here--especially close to the area's universities.

My advice that I tell every single looking at Denver--find a church and you're prospects and ability to find friends and community in Denver will increase dramatically.

Where exactly are you working in Westminster? And what's your price range?

Hi, FromBroomfield,

I currently work in Superior--my job is moving in October to Westminster, I believe near 36 & the 104th Ave/Church Ranch Blvd exit, somewhere near that area. I have been leaning more towards Westminster since I will probably be finishing school in downtown Denver. My price range? I'd like to spend no more than $750 per month on a 1-bedroom apartment---anything more might be pushing my budget. I'm still getting used to the higher cost of living here in Colorado compared to where I moved from

Any suggestions???

I have lived in Broomfield about 10 years now. Broomfield and Westminster are both big enough that they have a fairly wide variety of housing prices, qualities, and styles. As far as the "feel" of the cities go, they're essentially the same - suburban sprawls decorated with a couple dozen strip malls and one main shopping mall each. Neither has a real historic downtown area (unlike Boulder, Denver, and Arvada).

new-to-CO: You could probably just stay in Longmont and your commute wouldn't be much if any longer. If you want to move anyway, go where you can find the best deal. There is not much difference between the two, though I find Broomfield to have a little more 'feeling of community'.
