So considering my housing options nearer to DTC, but want to have the light rail option in case I end up working downtown. What's the parking situation at the stations nearest to DTC? At what time do the lots fill up? Do any stations usually have spots all the time?

I live very close to the Southmoor station, and there is always parking available at rush hour time. I've never seen it full, and even if it ever did get full, you could always chance leaving your car at the movie theater or King Soopers.

The only caveat is when you get on the train itself. It is usually full in the morning (6-8 am), and you may find yourself standing until you reach the DU station (or thereabouts). The trains are also eerily quiet as well, as in very little conversation going on, most everyone is buried in books, music, or space.

However, it is a much less stressful commute into downtown during rush hour.

I live near the Arapahoe Station and there is plenty of uncovered as well as covered parking (covered parking costs $1 per day). I've never seen the lots full. We are close enough to the beginning of the line to get seats.

Parking at Nine-Mile is very often full (1225 parking spaces).

I don't think there's much parking on Orchard. But I've only used it once so maybe I didn't find that mysterious parking garage.

I don't think there's a parking garage at Orchard. There's a really big one at the Arapahoe Station.

Dry Creek seems to be full anytime I've bothered to drive. I live close enough to walk so I usually do that. There is also a pay garage on Inverness Drive West (near the bridge) if you can't find a spot in the RTD lot near the train platform.

Thanks all, good to get some clarity on this. Later this week I'll be looking at some places not too far from the Southmoor station so that is good to hear.

Nice! It's also worth noting that if you are going to live near Southmoor, and can't find a pace to park at Southmoor, the Colorado Station usually has empty spaces throughout the day and the University of Denver station has a parking garage that I have never seen filled to capacity. The stations are all relatively close together at this part of the line and driving to one of these in the event that Southmoor parking is full isn't a big deal, in my opinion.

But if you're going to drive that far, then it wouldn't hurt to drive the rest of the way downtown, would it?
