Wow, Kat ! That sounds like a great choice ! That's one of my favorite parts of Denver. Used to ride bikes through that area all the time when I lived in Denver.

If you like plants, be sure to check out the Denver Botanic Gardens. Hey, it's low key, and not overly impressive like the museums back east, but like some big time gardening enthusaist's back yard (that you have to pay to get in). And it's hardly ever crowded. Great fun for plant enthusiasts year round. Of course, they're working on a big upgrade to their facilities, especially the indoor/tropical section, and the parking lot is all fixed up. But a couple of the gardens (Japanese Garden, Alpine Garden) are exactly the way they've been for decades.

Looks like your apartment building gets much better reviews than the Lions Gate Apartments in my town (State College, PA) , in fact I've never seen an apartment get such positive reviews on apartmentratings.com as yours has. Good find, so I gave you some reputation points !

Good luck in Denver !

Shaun,

8900 Liberty Circle is pretty far out there. Centennial Airport's been around for a long time, though. I'm surprised that's an Englewood mailing address.

If the hotels in the Meridian complex don't work for you hotel stay, you could look further north on I-25 towards Arapahoe. The good news is there are plenty of hotels in the part of town you're working in.

You should also be able to find a decent enough place to stay very close to work for your first year. You can always take your time to find an even better place once your lease runs out in a year or so.

@2bindenver - Any specific complexes in Centennial I should look into?

@maciesmom - I'm definitely going to look @ the Windsor.

Davros -

What do you mean by "hotels in Meridian complex"? Can you list a few so I know where and what I'm looking for?

And the hotel *doesnt* need to be in the part of town I'm working in (altho it WOULD be more convenient if I ended up having to go to work before my moving van arrives).

Having moved to Denver from NY, just remember this:

Everything in your life is about to become easier, cheaper, simpler, and less stressful. Everything, literally. You will miss some things about NY, but the difficulty factor will reduce by 90% Relax and enjoy

Any insight on where to look for apartments and where to stay temporarily while our moving van makes its way across the country would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, I'll be working at the Starz Entertainment complex in Englewood (8900 Liberty Circle) so I would definitely prefer to live not too far from the office (been looking @ some of the apt complexes in Parker and the other surrounding suburbs).

Thanks in advance to all who respond

Shaun,

When searching, try NOT to use Englewood as a search term. The whole southern area of the metro area was unincorporated for a really long time, and "Englewood" became the default town for addresses, it still is the default town for areas that are still unincorporated (like the area where Starz is). Try Centennial, Greenwood Village, and Lone Tree for starters. Also search Denver Tech Center. These are all areas by the Starz complex. Zip codes to search are 80112, 80111, 80124, and 80134.

@davidv - thanks. that's a big help to know the Englewood search term is not a good one when looking for nearby apt communities.

By chance, what moving company did you use?

I'm researching companies and feel like it's a big gamble so I want to make sure I go with a reputable company.

I just meant any of the hotels near Windsor at Meridian. There are a few. If none of them suit, you should certainly be able to find something northbound on I-25 towards Arapahoe. Try google maps. Sorry that wasn't clear. Hopefully this is.

Much clearer. Thanks for the heads-up.
