I'm moving soon and don't have alot to move. A couple of bedroom sets and the rest is clothes, toys and kitchen gadgets. Since I own a pickup I'm thinking of just renting a uhaul trailer. But I'm mostly trying to figure out what sort of drive is it from Atl to Denver. Flat? Mostly Major Hwy? Mountains? Curves? It's so far, but I may give it a shot. The internet sites list it as about 25 hours and 1500 miles. Should I try???

It's entirely highway. Take the 75 to the 24 up to St. Louis, then take the 70 all the way to Denver. You'll be driving through the great plains. Once you clear the Appalachians there are no more mountains to be dealt with.

Your only concern would be a spring snow storm in Kansas - easy enough to check before you leave. Should be smooth sailing.

One of the spring snowstorm in Kansas being referred to is arriving tomorrow -- this one is expected to dump snow pretty much all the way from Denver to Kansas City. (3-6" in Denver, but possibly much more closer to KC). So, you might want to look out if you're leaving this weekend. (The snow will be over on Saturday and this time of year it'll be mostly gone by Monday).

I just did this drive in mid-November & chose to do it in 2 days. The first day, I drove this route: Atlanta-Chattanooga-Nashville-St. Louis-Kansas City (13 hrs). It was a relatively interesting drive since it took me through 6 different states (GA-TN-KY-IL-MO-KS). I spent the night in Kansas City.

The second day, I simply drove from one end of Kansas to the other (a stark contrast to the 1st day) & then into Denver, Colorado (a total of 9 hrs). Kansas was all flat farmland/fields (there was a cool windfarm along the way, but that was about it).

My wife and I do the drive about every 3 years (her folks live south of Atlanta ~ we were just there for this past X-mas) and we do the exact same as what gonesnowalking posted. Drive to Kansas City, spend the night, drive to Denver. Going the other direction, we drive to St. Louis, spend the night, then on to her folks place.

You can do it in one push, but towing a trailer will add fatigue and do you Really want to be driving, with a trailer hauling ALL of your stuff, while worn out? You can get a nice room for under $50.

I appreciate the info! I'm (fingers crossed) potentially moving for a great job. I simply can't afford the big relocation expense. I think I can recruit the men in the family for some help...take the ROAD TRIP(!) and fly them back for alot cheaper than other options. Bless you!
