My boyfriend and I are looking to move to the Denver area in the very near future. We're looking to settle down and buy a house. I"m a wedding photographer and he's a software developer. Can anyone tell me about the poeple in Denver? Lifestyle? Is it easy to make friends, we don't know anyone out there and have heard that people keep to themselves and don't like newcomers. We in our late 20's and would love any input you have!

I have found that people in Denver tend to be very friendly and open.

Denver has had so much growth in the past few decades that the majority of people you will meet are fellow transplants. That's not to say that Denver natives are unfriendly, I've found them to also be very congenial. But chances are you will meet plenty of people from Santa Barbara (or any hometown, for that matter) who came out here for the lifestyle, so you will automatically have that in common with them.

I've met many people, singles and couples, who came here not knowing anyone and relatively quickly made a great circle of friends.

Hello,

Like every major metro area, Denver is home to a wide variety of people. Overall, most of them are very friendly, and it's easy to build relationships if you get involved with your community and show interest in meeting new people. If you're outgoing and friendly, others will reciprocate and you'll have no problem making friends. Best of luck on your new adventure!

I would say the people are a bit reserved and polite. Not real outgoing, but not real closed up either. Middle of the road by American standards. I wouldn't go so far as the responders above who say you'll be making a "great circle of friends" because I know young, attractive, interesting people in Denver who said it took them about a year to start making friends there.

I don't think that is true, but there are many people who don't really love people from California.

I am a Colorado native moving back to Colorado after several months away in Laguna Beach. Check out Boulder if you want similar to SB; I went to school for a while at UCSB and CU..Boulder is SB without a coast, but bigger mountains. People don't hate Californian's in Boulder California.
