My husband and I are planning on moving out to the Denver area from California in July. My husband is going to the fire academy at Red Rocks college in Lakewood. We are thinking about buying a condo or townhouse but want to know where a good safe neighborhood is. We are planning to have kids and we have a dog that will need to go out. Any help would be awesome!

I have friends who live near there, around Golden and Applewood. Seemed like pleasant areas and plenty of families around.

We found a few houses in Thornton and Aurora. How are those places?

Aurora is at the opposite end of town, so your husband's commute may not be very fun. Thornton is also quite aways off. Where exactly is the school? Closer areas would be any place in Jefferson County. This would be Lakewood, Littleton, Wheatridge, and Arvada.

Just about any condo I can think of won't have a place (attached yard) for your dog. They generally will have comon areas where you dog can do his duty, and of course, they expect you to clean up after them. Town homes sometimes have attached fenced yards and sometimes they don't. It just depends.
