If you the chance (or I would if it's okay) would you consider a "closer" look at DSM? This is not from here, but is just an example of what I mean.

Click on the resize option and look at the detail in the face and the carving around it. Beautiful work.

A good suggestion Tek Freek. This thread is for anyone else who would like to post their photos of Des Moines as well, and is not meant to just be my thread. All I would ask is that you keep the amount of photos posted per day to no more than two. I will need all of the help I can get to keep this thread going over the long run, but I have a few thousand photos to burn through before I run out.

Unfortunately, nearly all of the photos in my collection are of buildings and streetscapes. If anyone else has photos showing the more humanistic side of the city, or intricate architectural details similar to what was posted above, please feel free to do so.

Nice, thanks!! An excellent example of why I carry a camera when I'm traveling, and truly beautiful stonework.

See that roof on the building to the left? One of my brothers built that when he remodeled the facade 30 years ago (more or less).

This is close to the Pappajohn Sculpture Garden, but is actually owned by the Meredith Corporation. This was the site of a gas station and a Cadillac dealer, but was cleared out and landscaped when Meredith rebuilt their HQ in the late 1990's.

These pictures are truly awe-inspiring, Mount Fuji wouldn't even stand out among these office buildings.
