I'm moving to Des Moines from out of state and do not know anyone in the area so the apartment search is all online with a planned trip to visit some locations. I've spent hours and hours searching all the online apartment searches....rent.com, apartmentfinder.com, padmapper.com, forrent.com, apartments.com, etc....

There are plenty that look good on paper, but then you read reviews and the reviews are neutral at best and usually swing towards the bad review. I'm freaking out with these reviews and might consider some help from a local service. Do apartment brokers exist in Des Moines and are they really in the know and worth it.

On a side note....Im looking at apartments in the Urbandale/West Des Moines area. Looking at Studio/1BR/2BR with main requirement being washer and dryer in unit....price range $750-850....any suggestions or known places to avoid?

Thanks

An apartment broker shouldn't be necessary. I moved from TN in March and hadn't been here before, stayed in a ValuPlace for a week, and found myself an apartment. Washer-dryer in unit is going to be tough, especially for old complexes, but if you're looking in WDM, I would recommend the Broadmoor by Jordan Creek Town Center. A studio or 1 bedroom will probably run between $800-$850 with basic cable and no other utilities included. Direct message me if you'd like more info.
