This is almost humorous! You people are just affirming how Iowans are I never said I need people to change for me. All I said was people aren't friendly and welcoming. Giving by all the posts it shows. Thank you

I lived in Atlanta for years and we had transplant family from California that hated Atlanta she would tell me how much she wanted to move back she couldn't take it, I never took it personally nor did anyone else I know and my friends and family in Miami don't take it personal either. In fact they will tell you everyone is entitled to their opinion. It wasn't until I arrived in Iowa where people act like they are the founders!

Camille - honest questions. 1) How hard have you looked to get involved with people of diverse backgrounds in Des Moines? 2) What qualifies as "diverse" to you?

And while you're at it, I have one more:

3) Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?

Eminem - The Real Slim Shady (Edited) - YouTube

Sorry, couldn't help myself. This song has been going through my mind ever since I first saw the thread title about a month and a half ago (or so it seems).

Crikey....There's that old "fanaticism" thing again. You know, for all intents & purposes, you are the fanatical one here with your obsession about saying the same thing over & over & over again.
More than likely your next post will mention the "cultishness" omnipresent in central Iowa. Go ahead...just post it here again for our amusement.

I have searched for groups online. I have met other moms at my kids school but with no avail, they have their friends and arent welcoming. The nicest people I have met have been transplants from India, San Diego, Texas and Bosnia. I miss being around different culture, growing up I had friends from all over the world.
