My wife and I will be celebrating our 3rd year anniversary on august 1st week and are looking for something to do. We are very new to this locations and we would like to celebrate our anniversary. We live in Des Moines and willing to travel / drive near by locations if possible. Please give us some ideas as we would like to make our 3rd year anniversary a memorable one.

Thanks a bunch,

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary!

A few more details would help: do you like hiking? Hot air balloons? Fine dining? County fairs?

The hot air balloon classic is from July 28 - Aug. 5

National Balloon Classic: flight, ride, Indianola, Iowa

Here's one calendar of Iowa events:

Yeah..I think you need to provide more details on what you want to do? ARe you looking for outdoor activies? Overnight? Bed & Breakfast? Lot's of people around....few people around? Theater or music? quiet dining (fancy or down home.) nightlife or nature? Etc etc.

Really hard to recommend something when your likes and desires are unknown.

Have an anniversary meal at Zombie Burger, then buy a witty Iowa slogan t-shirt at Raygun.

That would be anybody's dream anniversary celebration.

I have friends in Des Moines who travel to Pella for every anniversary and stay at a Bed and Breakfast.

Ragbrai! HA! (I'm joking, although it's not too late to get a day pass)

It's too hot to be messing around outside. I'd go to the Maquoketa caves and build a trip around the visit:

Added: Maquoketa is about 3 hours to the northeast of Des Moines.
