I'm curious to know why the "Nay!" voters voted as they did.

i agree. middle easterns are very nice people not all of them should be labbelled as they are "terrorists" this is utterly ridiculous, remember one bad apple spoils the bunch we'll this is not the case in human nature there are very bad people out there, but there are very good people out there to,just open your eyes. People have the right to live were they want. terrorist threats are scary and real but lets not labbel everyone who looks a little different as a threat to us. THANKS

Bosnia and Herzegovina (18%)
Poland (16%)
Other Western Asia (11%)
Ukraine (4%)
Other Eastern Europe (4%)
Yugoslavia (3%)

Not very Middle Eastern at all....except maybe within that 11% 'Other Western Asia' stat...although quite ambiguous what that even is.
There are a ton of middle eastern people there, don't let that fool you. They occupy the city in certain pockets, and have their own mosques/areas.

Also, most of the bosnians have moved out. Those stats are old.

As long as they keep their restaurants open and their houses kept up, I am fine with them.

I like the presence and the cultural opportunities are nice. I like Ms. America. I think that it is really neat to have her from our area. Love the food. Most of the middle eastern people that I have met in Dearborn are great (of course I am usually buying something from them when I meet them, so they have a reason to be nice, but many are much nicer than is necessary to accomplish a sale).

However I have some trepedation. Along with a concentration of middle eastern people in Dearborn there is a concentration of terrorists supporters and sympathizers. Every now and then someone gets busted. There is also somtimes some nastiness going on in Dearborn (anti american anti Christian hate stuff). The allegations about the application of Sharia law at various events and locations is bothersome, but I ahve no idea if it is true (probably like most things a grain of truth with a lot of exaggeration). It concerns me that it is a perfect place for terrorists to blend in and disappear and that my office is the most likely nearby target if they wanted to do something locally. It also bothers me that there resturaunts laundering money and funding terrorist activities. They are probably very few, but not knowing which ones, i have undoubtedly provided funds that ened up in terrorist hands.

Inciednetally for the posters who said that they like the diversity, Dearborn is not diverse int he middle eastern areas. It is very undiverse. that is what makes it so cool. It is completely middle eastern. Kind of like visiting another country. Diverse means a mix of people where you do nto really notice a prevalence of one type of person. That is certainly not Dearborn.

Overall. I am glad to have the concentration there despite my concerns and trepedation. I do wish that Dearborn was more of a mix (more diverse). When I was a kid, Darborn was probably the best suburb to live in. It was beautiful, clean, and safe. Ford paid for everything. It was fairly diverse. Now it has become a place pretty much for Middle eastern people. Others are not comfortable there except to visit or in certain parts of the city where there is more diversity. So overall, it is a mixed bag.

I didn't vote; however, I don't like it. I attended Henry Ford Community College, University of Michigan Dearborn, and worked in factories and I work in hospitals with a large population of ME people. They talk a lot of what they "hate" and don't like animals, or the military. I just feel that too many of one culture always spoils an area. I had a hard time when I was younger with the ME boys. They would stand out in the hallways at Henry Ford and laugh and play loudly while we were testing. I had a whole group of them follow me out to the parking lot while they were grabbing themselves and talking in their language. Some of the men are very disrespectful to women. I don't like any men who are disrespectful. They would talk about their young (14 or 15 years old) wives outside of the US; when I worked in the factory.
The people you meet in the stores or restaurants are selling a product; they aren't dumb. They will pretend to be nice to you, just to make a buck.

I wish it was more diverse.

In a politically correct world, it is difficult to speak an opinion, let alone the truth.

Sharon Angle apparently doesn't like the Middle Eastern influence in Dearborn.
