I used to go to that Kroger fairly often. It was nice the first year or so that it was open and then got horribly bad fast. There were entirely empty aisles and gray meat towards the end.

I remember when Bel Air was nice, too. My mother worked at that Toys "R" Us the first Christmas season.

Yah, the experience with that Kroger is my fear with Gateway Plaza and Whole Foods as well. Kroger also invested with the faith that Detroit was coming back at the time, and they got burned dearly.

I also have fond memories of Bel-Air. In the late 80s, between it, 7 Mile and Gratiot, the Sherwood/Outer Drive Kmart and eastland, Ne Detroiters didn't have to go no more than 5 miles out of their nighborhoods for a plethora of shopping outlets that Detroiters must go to M-59, Dearborn or Troy for now. This remaind the case through the late 1990s.

They're going to first let the locations go to crap, because upkeeping it on par with the suburban stores would cause them to lose money on the store, before giving it away to the Chaldeans or letting it sit vacant like the Farmr Jack's on Jefferson and St. Jan.

On the other hand Just because you don't think they are does not make it so either. This is America dude, I am entitled to my opinions just like you are. If you don't like what someone posts, don't look at it.
