Silliness. I'm looking for houses now and I'm going to buy the house I want. The realtor has ZERO control over what house I buy. This isn't the old days. The internet provides listings for every single house out there. How is it possible for my realtor to hide properties from me, let alone decide what house I buy? A realtor might suggest that I live in a certain neighborhood. If that neighborhood is almost all white, then I guess the realtor is guilty of...something. So, a realtor cannot suggest that a person move into a neighborhood that is primarily of the same race as their client, or else they are subject to these absurd charges of racism. This makes no sense.

In the fifties and sixties, realtors were accused of moving TOO MANY blacks into white neighborhoods. This was called blockbusting. Now, it's just the opposite? Realtors are really given much more credit than they deserve. Laughable.

By the way, the fact that the realtors didn't want to answer questions about their supposedly "racist" practices should come as no surprise. If some race hustler came along with that kind of crap, I wouldn't answer the questions either. That's hardly an admission of guilt.

You know, when I first started reading "Bonfire of the Vanities", I thought it was a novel. By the time I got to the end, I realized it could have been a documentary about Detroit. Anyone with questions about the status of race relations in the tri-county area should read that book. Everybody's in it...Coleman Young, Malice Green's family, Horace Sheffield, Jim Holly.......

Here's a question. Maybe someone can help me out. I went to Catholic church for quite a while and the priest never really endorsed any candidates, especially locally, from the altar. He never really talked about politics at all. He'd hit the usual social subjects like abortion, charity to the poor and stuff like that but never really went so far as blatantly trying to get a candidate elected.

I also thought that if the leader or "owner" of a church DID try that in church, the church can lose its non-profit status (which I think is why a lot of store front preachers get into the business in the first place, but then that's another thread). Anyway, why is it that at election time, you see Kwame and a host of other Detroit politicos IN churches in Detroit, practically outpreaching the preacher from the pulpit? Do the churches that Kwame visits have different rules than the churches I've attended, or am I wrong about the rules??? And what's with the ministers? I've seen them endorse candidates IN CHURCH from the pulpit. How do they get away with that?

Yes, it is; rough biker whites, trailer trash and hillbillies as they are known in private conversation; not politicaly correct, but I call it like I see it. I've lived in Detroit for 30yrs. on the East side which is also black, except for the 3 mile radius of Indian Village; which includes Seminole, Iroquis, Burns ave....We used to take the kids over there to trick or treat, due to the good candy in that 'ritzy' historic area. The property taxes are ridiculously high in the 'white yuppie' new developments, Condos? who wants to pay $200,000 for a nice Loft/Condo/Townhouse IF YOU'RE LOOKING OUT THE GATE AT THE LOCAL LOONEY PEEING ON THE BUSHES, tossing wine bottles under your tires, and begging you for 'spare change' as soon as you walk out the door in the mornings? duh....ITS BLACK, RACIST and I've moved outta there at last, good riddance, let 'them' have it. Kwame (the mayor) has stolen what little was left to take from the people of that once Big City called MoTown.
They try and PR you into thinking the Red Wings, Super Bowl made it a great place? HA!! they took the indigent-homeless to gymnasiums & warming centers for that week to get them off the streets coz' 'COMPANY WAS COMING TO TOWN". white folks iz comin' better put on your good clothes, go eat a free meal at the local Warming Center. Duh....I could't even sell my 32,000 brick colonial duplex for $85,000 (which was the apprasal)...Family home in fantastic shape. YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE OF THE ZIP CODE.... My insurance lady told me yrs. ago that IF I MOVEd THAT HOUSE 1/2 mile over to the Indian Village area of Detroit, it would quad-ruple in value to a quarter million! as it was? It could't even be adequately Insured against Fire/Vandalism/B&E, because of the 48207 zip code. So dont tell me unless you've lived in my shoes, buddy. Yeah, the businesses talk about Being Liberal and Fair; but do not practice it. They practice a much more sinister thing called Red-Lining, White-Flight, BlockBusting, etc. Decades ago; the neighborhood of East side Detroit was Polish, German, Italian; nice clean yards; however a few of "them" started moving in, gramma-grandpa dies, then the kids started moving old grammy UP/OUT Gratiot Ave. towards Roseville, EastPointe, etc. Coz one little mugging and they 'white flight' outta there; one little garage B&E with the lawn mower gets stolen, some grafitti sprayed, BAM!! Lets go outta Detroit. The original owners die; kids do not want the hassle of renting to ADC mamma's pampers in the alley, bla bla...We were one of those Slumlords, then cannot get your property back up to par to sell it to someone who is willing to take care of it; NOT fill up the alley with pampers, trash, needles/whiskey bottles, but that was in the 60s-70s. It changed to 99% black, with the other 1% being the "AFC" Grp. Homes of crazies on medications, crack-smoking & panhandling...That is what I watched MY East Grand Blvd. Neighborhood go down to. Its a shame and a reality.
32,000 sq.ft. brick colonial duplex was appraised for under $100,000. That made me absolutely sick & disgusted! Due to the zip code and reputation of Detroit. Dont believe the hype. Ask someone who lived it!!!

Haa haa, yeah, it was pretty obvious what their intent was there. I remember them saying on TV: "We'll have heated centers with food and drinks and large screen televisions so even the homeless can watch the Superbowl!" Yeah, "even" the homeless......
