Motown Winter Blast is here again. The festivities start Saturday, February 11-13th in Campus Martius Park in Downtown Detroit. This year we're in for an awesome line up:
  • Live music on three different stages featuring all genres of music
  • Ice sculptures and professional skating performances
  • A 200-foot ice slide, snow shoeing, and free ice skating
  • Food samplers from around the Metro
  • Live electronic music in the evenings featuring local DJs
  • An after party hosted by Greektown Casino
Motown Winter Blast - Home

They've been setting up for the event all week, and when I walked by on my way home from work, the giant snow slide takes up an entire city block! It's going to be a great time!

Anyone go to Winter Blast over the weekend?

They went all out this year. I was surprised to see how much stuff they had. I definitely didn't expect there to be pony rides. It was a really great turnout and the weather was perfect. It was a little warm on Sunday for the ice sculptures, but other than that, very nice.

I had to work all weekend, but I heard on the news this morning that they estimated 80,000-85,000 people showed up. Awesome!

I worked last year, and I ended up working this year. Next year I will go, no matter what.

I was downtown for a while, but I did not get to see much of it. The dog sled thing which is the biggest attraction to me was closed. Kids were not interested in the slide. "Why not just go to Kensington. It is free and no lines" My Secretary went on a bus trip that included breakfast, wings at the Sweetwater and winterfest plus casino time. She said it was great. They ahd a wodnerful time (of course winning some money at the casino helped).
