REsidents know it as The Wild Wild West...I belive most folks follow the Don't Ask Don't Tell doctrine of firearms in the city. Going throught the channels, it may not be strict, but it is lenghty..

Occasionally (but very seldom) you will see someone with an exposed pistol holstered on his hip like a policeman. Open carry must be legal in some circumstances. I've seen two of them in the last six months, one of them playing in the front yard of his house with his children.

Open carry is legal in MI, as long as the firearm is registered.

Need a permit to carry concealed.

To purchase a pistol:

1. go to gun shop, pick fungun, complete background check.

2. Wait three days, buy fungun.

3. Go to copshop, register fungun.

Need to complete a safety course to carry concealed. CCW permit is good for 5 years.

I've heard some counties are easier than others to get a CCW permit. Macomb County is supposedly pretty easy.

You can openly carry one as long as it is registered to you without a CCW. To carry it concealed you need a CCW. To carry a pistol open in a vehicle you need a CCW as well, otherwise it needs to be in a case.

Eagleeyes, your best bet is to call the State Police in Lansing and see their take. I wouldn't think it would be a problem because your home States doesn't require it.
