“Detroit tops the list with more than 800 available tech positions on any given day – that’s double the number posted last year. Let’s extend those two minutes of Detroit super bowl advertising goodness, by highlighting that technology professionals make on average $71,445 per year in the Motor City, up two percent from a year ago.”

Glad to see numbers are up. I often was shocked by the lack of numbers in the past two years for Desktop support with 10 positions or less were only open on some of the known online job sites for the whole 30 mile radius in the metro Detroit area while if you searched out of states metro area's there was about 3 or more pages of job openings.

I was laid off as an IT auditor in Detroit and couldn't even get a job as a help desk technician - even though I had 5 years experience before that. This was about 2 years ago. It was very frustrating!

I posted my resume on Monster.com saying I was willing to relocate and in the first week I could over 15 calls from out of state companies.

At the end, I had 4 job offers in writing - Indianapolis, Birmingham, AL; Charlotte, NC; and Richmond, VA. I went with Charlotte and love it.
