Default Moving to Detroit-- Homes w/Land?

I plan to move from Pittsburgh, PA to Detroit early next year. Here's my question-- I'd like to find a home with a little bit of land (maybe 1 to 3 acres or so). I'm willing to commute 1 to 1 1/2 hours each way (into downtown). Are there any areas where such a house might be found? Thanks very much for your help

If you're willing to drive THAT far to get to Detroit, there are plenty of places that will fit the bill for you. How much do you want to spend??? What kind of lifestyle?? Do you want "house trailer with chickens living inside" zoning or do you want "masterplanned" zoning?

Check Superior Township, New Boston, anywhere in Monroe County, many places in Livingston and Washtenaw Counties.....Pinckney.....

I live in Southfield on a 1.25 acre lot, and I am 30 minutes from downtown. If you are not phobic about integrated communities it might be an area you would want to consider.

As far as Oakland County goes, how about Lake Orion, Clarkston, Oxford, Bloomfield Hills, Auburn Hills, Rochester, Brandon Township, Oxford, etc. In Macomb County, you may want to consider Armada as well as Washington Township, Macomb Township and Utica. None of these areas are extremely rural, but they offer many homes with acreage.

Or west... Northville, Salem, South Lyon, Whitmore Lake, Dexter, Brighton, Novi, Wixom, Walled Lake, Milford...

An hour and a half can pretty much get you from Detroit to Lansing, so just about anywhere with good freeway access will do it.

Just make sure you have your TAX money ready when you get here. Cause Grandhole needs all the money she can suck out of her property owners. You might want to look at Ohio,
