Default How are the Livonia schools?

Hi guys.

Pretty straight forward topic... how are the Livonia schools? And how do you think they'll be in the future?

Also, is there an easy way to find the Livonia school district zones? Maybe some are better than others?

Thanks!

Livonia schools are a standard suburban district, definitely not the best in the area, but quite passable. However, the northwest corner of the city is serviced by Clarenceville schools. It is a very small district that takes in portions of Redford, Livonia and the southeast end of Farmington Hills. It is a significantly poorer district and test scores are not comparable with Livonia schools. I would not pay as much for a home in Clarenceville schools as I would for a home in Livonia schools.

I thought the north EAST part of Livonia was Clarenceville? The northwest part of Westland is techinically Livonia schools but I think the Westland residents attend separate elementary schools from the Livonia students even though it's the same district. Lots of apartment-dwellers in Livonia district schools that service Westland. Also a lot of Detroit residents who lie about their addresses to get into Livonia schools. I'd go a little bit west and try for Plymouth-Canton or Plymouth-Salem schools. Otherwise, I think Stevenson is probably the preferred public high school in Livonia. There's a girls Catholic school on Newburgh, Ladywood HS, if you want to go that route.

I graduated from Livonia Franklin High School in 2004. Now I'm working on my Masters in Counseling Psychology. The education I got, along with the teaching staff, was top notch!

Livonia schools used to be very good. However, I know some teachers in the district who have said that the population has changed a lot (many residents from Detroit), resulting in lower test scores and more discipline problems. It's still a fairly decent district; just not as good as it was in the past. I don't think you'd have to worry too much about safety, and there are classes and programs available for all levels of learners (struggling to high ability).

In terms of high schools, Stevenson is the best, followed by Churchill, followed by Franklin.
