DEMF is right around the corner (May 24-26th), and Detroit production company, Paxahau, has yet another great lineup in store. This event draws more than 100k electronic music fans annually from all over the world. DEMF or "Movement" has become a signature event in the City of Detroit and is hosted in Hart Plaza downtown along the riverfront.

Five stages will host DJs from all over the globe, and many from right here in Detroit. The event is a tribute to Detroit's electronic music heritage and always represents the cutting-edge sounds in the genre. This year's lineup will take some chances in exploring some of the newest mixes being developed. As someone who has attended this event semi-religiously over the years, I have yet to be disappointed. The energy and vibe is always fantastic.

By no means does the party end with DEMF itself, however. Bars and clubs throughout the city will be hosting after parties with a variety of DJs from names like Paul Van Dyke to local talents headlining. Paxahau is sponsoring parties at several venues, including Oslo, TV Lounge, St. Andrews, Bleu, City Club, the Works, and others. The mix of music will surely encompass something for every electronic music lover. Expect everything from Detroit Techno, house, electro-funk, trance, industrial, synth pop, drum 'n bass, and more. See you there.

I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that anymore. Living downtown when sports or festivals were going on could be awful at times.

I wish the DEMF had artists that would have tempted me over when I could walk there in a couple of minutes.

I hear ya, Hoedown was AWFUL. Hundreds of thousands of people downtown that Friday night. It was the most ridiculous it had been since Final Four. Don't get me wrong, I love living downtown, but when it gets to the point where it's more crowded than Times Square in Manhattan and everyone is hammer-faced DRUNK, it is not fun. On those nights, I will typically grab a cab and spend the evening in Midtown chilling with the rest of townies at local watering holes that the tourists don't know about (*yet).
