Cobbler shop. I've done some checking & Waterford has zero certified footwear technicians. Eureka!

I personally consider any place that has directly experienced suburban growth due to exodus from Detroit a suburb. Waterford would fall into that category.

And so what if it's not in the same county? Southfield's not in the same county as Detroit, but I think most would consider it a part of Metro Detroit (or "Detroit").

And Lansing compared to Waterford? Ummm, no. Waterford is essentially our equivalent of Bollingbrook in Illinois. Lansing is the equivalent of Springfield in Illinois. Watermelons and Cherries, no comparison.
So you do not live here. That explains your position. I have a watch, that is more accurate than google. The google guess is irrelevant and rarely accurate. In fact, Google often places Waterford in the wrong location. Last I used it, it said that Waterford is up by Holly (1 public works drive waterford MI - google says go up to Holly). However I am through with the silliness of whether Waterford is Detroit. They are not the same city. Waterford is not even a suburb of Detroit, it is a suburb of Pontiac.

For the Op what about gunsmithing? That can be lucrative. There are a couple of gunshops already, but that just tells you that there is a market. Any kind of outfitters shop might do well there.

The Oakland County government offices are in Pontiac/Waterford. Maybe you can come up with something that caters to them?

You could start a business setting up booths outside of courthouses and hold the things that people cannot bring in with them. Frequently, people do not have time to run back to their car, and would pay you $5 to hold their gun, knife, camera, or other item that is not allowed through security. You would nto make much with one such booth, but if you had one at every courthouse, you could probably make a living.

I'm not going to argue with you, I know what I'm talking about.

Anyways, you just don't know how to use Google Maps, even though it's the simplest thing in the world to use. I got directions from Grosse Ile (where you live) to Waterford and I didn't go anywhere near Holly. You're just confused.
Grosse Ile, MI to Waterford, MI - Google Maps

BTW, Pontiac is also considered a part of Metro Detroit (thus it would essentially be a suburb of the city center), just as FYI. I personally had no idea suburbs had suburbs, but I guess you just taught me something new (not really). If it's not a suburb then why in the hell were the DETROIT Lions there for over 20 years? If Auburns Hills (same vicinity) isn't a suburb, then why in the hell is Chrysler consider one of the DETROIT 3 by many and why the hell are the DETROIT Pistons there?

As for me, I live in DETROIT. Anywhere else (the suburbs and the rest of the state) is quite frankly irrelevant to me, just like many around here and the state try so hard to disassociate themselves from Detroit, like you're trying to do with Waterford.

Food for thought -

The Detroit Urban Area, which serves as the core of the Metropolitan Statistical Area, ranks as the 9th most populous of the United States, with a population of 3,903,377 as of the 2000 census, and area of 1,261.4 square miles (3,267 km2). This urbanized area covers parts of the counties of Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb.[1] These counties are sometimes referred to informally as the Detroit Tri-County Area, and had a population of 3,863,888 as of the 2010 census with an area of 1,967.1 square miles (5,095 km2).

The United States Office of Management and Budget defines the Detroit–Warren–Livonia Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) as the six counties of Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, and Wayne. As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 4,296,250. The MSA covers an area of 3,913 square miles (10,130 km2)."

Deep,

Waterford has been settled and is a "township", established in 1834. You'll be an outsider.

Which country are you hailing from?

If you are hell-bent on Waterford, create a fishery.

I think it would probably be wiser to open a business in Keego Harbor or Sylvan south of Waterford along a main road. Waterford in alot of areas is really country-ish and forested, there arent many businesses there in the first place.

The only area of Waterford that I know of that has businesses is right by Pontiac and I would say there's less than a half mile stretch of road with businesses on the Waterford side of that area. Sylvan and Keego Harbor have a good 4 miles of commercial zone on their main road. And they are not mostly shopping centers like the "business district" in Waterford.

Deepak Man Shrestha,

Where are you at on this - which business will you establish; do you have something more eccentric in mind, perhaps a Youth Boot-camp?
