I just had sewer work done which required digging up a large portion of my front yard. I now have a yard that is half grass and half dirt. Is it too late in fall to plant grass seed? Should I deal with an ugly dirt covered lawn until spring? I don't want to waste the money on seed that won't grow before winter. I also don't want to look at an ugly lawn until April if I don't have to.

Thanks for the insight!

No. We planted our lawn in the fall. It grew some and then went dormant. As a result, by spring, we had a decent covering of grass.

I agree. Fall is the best time to do it. Don't forget to fertilize.

Thanks guys (or gals). I was aware fall was a good time to plant. I just wasn't sure if it was too late in the fall at this point or not. I think I'll give it a shot.
