Default Cleveland by far

Look I am not from Detroit or Cleveland. However, I lived in the Detroit suburbs for 8 years and I now live in Cleveland suburbs. Cleveland is much further along. Warehouse district, East Fourth, University Circle, Tremont, Ohio City, Shaker Square. Also, Cleveland has a bright future with the Clinic and UH hospitals (baby boomers). The auto industry is coming back strong, but metro Detroit remains a 1 horse town. You can still grocery shop, buy clothes or a car in Cleveland. The Casino, Medical Mart and over 2 billion dollars of investment in the city, yes 2 billion (Casino, medical mart, University circle, condos, movies, etc.).

There's still grocery stores and dealerships in Detroit contrary to what national media makes you believe. They just announced they're building a Whole Foods in Detroit. There's also clothes shops in Detroit. I know because I bought a business suit and overcoat in Detroit. True story.

Yeah, but Cleveland has chain stores in their city, AND more than 6 or 7 car dealers in the city.

It is down right embarassing that a city of 700,000 can't even manage to have a Target or Kroger.

I think two meijers are in the plans for Detroit.......not sure if will happen now that Fred Meijers has passed. He was pushing more urban locations.

"Are in the plans for Detroit" and "Current open in Detroit" are two different things.

Anyone who's lived in this town long enough should know better than to get excited about "plans."

Cleveland's chain stores are on the outer fringes of the city. Eastland Mall is literally across the street from Detroit. Meijer also announced an agreement to open a store in the Gateway Shoppes project and also talks of building a store on the Old Redford high school site. Detroit also has a Kmart supercenter within its borders.

Again, "In Detroit/Cleveland" and "Literally across the street from Detroit/Cleveland" are two different things.

Detroiters can't walk across a street? If Detroiters didn't steal and destroy every store, there would be more in the city.
