If you want to see some beautiful old buildings that need to be rescued tour the website The Fabulous Ruins of Detroit - The Fabulous Ruins of Detroit.

We at one time were considering purchasing a home in Corktown. They have restored a lot of the homes there and there are still even some "brownstones". Also some of the neighborhoods around Wayne State have some neat homes.

Thank you for the honest posts. I have to tell you that there's is so much historical Buildings and neighborhoods with so much character that they would revial any home in birmingham or Grosse pointe. My personal fav is the Guardian Building. Absolutely stunning, if you ever been inside you will be amazed. The attention to every detail and the decor is gorgeous, from the inside out the building itself stands out alone. To the color and the shape it's truly at site to be seen. And you know what else ..... you can never get that type of Architecture in the suburbs. Not to mention our beautiful historical mansions.
