Many people fail to realize the importance of less flamboyant local political positions and simply fail to vote for those positions. Oakland County has an usually good water resources commissioner John McCullough and it would be a shame if voters forgot to re-elect him. His work does have a direct impact on everyone either in the form of sewer and water handling and billings, or in the form of clean waterways and reasonable usage rules impacting those on wells and septic. Water and sewer rates will continue to climb. The 40-50 year old federally funded system we have is decaying and there is no more federal money to fix or replace the systems. However how much those rates go up is, in part, a factor of how well the commissioner's office is managed. Rates can either go up a lot or a huge amount. McCullough has established a well managed agency and focused on using technology and more efficient planning to try to keep costs down while still performing necessary repairs and upgrades (rather than leaving the costs of replacement for the next guy to deal with and charge consumers at an even greater cost). McCullough is not a politician, he just likes managing the agency and he does a good job, however he does not campaign much. This is not the time to risk having an inexperienced politico get elected in his place. It may not be a close election, but it certainly does not hurt to make a small effort to be certain.

Just thought I would pass this along since many people are not even aware there is a water resources commissioner or what they do.
